Ishidaya Inc., bearing the name of Kokuryu Sake Brewery, is directly managed by the brewery and carries Kokuryu, Kuzuryu, and ESHIKOTO brands. We sell sake to customers both locally and nationwide. The beginning of our history can be traced back over 200 years ago. Ishidaya, the predecessor of Kokuryu Sake Brewery, was founded by Nizaemon Ishidaya in the first Edo Bunka year (1804) in Matsuoka Kasuga, Eiheiji. Since then, the Ishidaya main store, run by the brewery, has become rooted in the land and a beloved store within the community. Today, the Ishidaya main store is the oldest building owned by Kokuryu Sake Brewery and is cherished as a historical architecture. Over the course of many years, Ishidaya has carried on the tradition of making sake in Matsuoka. In 2022, we released ESHIKOTO, an original Ishidaya brand. We’re actively breathing new life into the sake industry by opening the Ishidaya ESHIKOTO store, which sells ESHIKOTO, and so forth. We at Ishidaya Inc. will continue challenging ourselves and doing steady, honest work from Fukui to the world as an entity that inherits the Japanese tradition of sake brewing and brings new life to the sake industry. We hope guests will visit us and ESHIKOTO as a destination store where Fukui’s nature, history, and the taste of sake of yesterday and today can be savored.
